Taryn and Adam's Country Farm House

    Names: Taryn and Adam
    Location: Richmond, Ontario, Canada
    Size: 2,700 square feet
    Years lived in: 1 year

Tucked away in the village of Richmond, Ontario lies Taryn and Adam's heritage farm home. Filled with lots of memories and pieces of history, it is clear that this farm home has been in the family for over 100 years. Their home is surrounded by beautifully weathered barns, lots of land and is bright and open with a country chic feel.
From the outside it might look like your average old house, but walk inside and you will be amazed by the classic yet modern updates they’ve made over the past year. They keep it simple by using soft neutral colors, warm wood accents with lots of character, and many repurposed unique accessories found buried in some of their barns. The "Red Rose Tea" sign and aged yellow door used as their head board are just a few of the many items that were rescued from the barns and given new life inside their family home.

Fresh, clean updated kitchen, with shaker style cabinetry and simple brushed bronze hardware
Mason jar pendant lights hang over the kitchen counter.

The contemporary chandelier and painting in the dining room.

The windows in the kitchen provide ample natural light, giving the space a bigger and brighter feel

    Beautiful granite countertops

A very old authentic Red Rose Tea sign!

    Survey:

My Style: Country charm, rustic with modern updates.

Inspiration: Maintaining the character and history while adding modern convenience.

Biggest Challenge: Blending old with new, structural changes, working with an old house.

What your friends say: Inviting, lots of character and charm, can't believe it's the same house (after the renovation).

    Biggest Embarrassment: Crooked floors.

Proudest DIY: The master bedroom, with the antique headboard and chandelier.

    Biggest indulgence: The kitchen!

Best Advice: Allow for contingency, expect to go over budget, keep it simple and clutter free.

The wheels on the coffee table makes it unique.

How pretty is the mason jars used as candle holders and a vase with the wood plank underneath!

The small tree occupies the corner of the stairs nicely.

The wear n' tear of the stairs adds a vintage feel to the house.

    Their cat Pumpernickel saying hi!

A shot of their guest bedroom, the wallpaper adds interest to the simple style of the room.

The narrow wooden entrance to the master bedroom, showing the nice crystal chandelier

a yellow door they found in their barn used as the bed frame!

    A dresser in the bedroom

They put mirrors in the frames of this old door! What a great idea!
